Here is a violin neck that was snapped off. There isn't much gluing surface, plus someone tried to repair it previously by simply gluing it together and using a crude dutchman wedge to try and hold it together. That repair didn't work. This is still a work in progress. Hopefully I'll remember to take a photo at each step. (1) Remove the fingerboard and the dutchman. (2) Clean off the old glue. It was somewhat a pain because I needed to spend a lot of time removing the old glue. Not really sure what kind of glue it was but it was quite sticky and rubbery, ugh. (3) Once the two pieces line up as good as possible, then it needs to be glued together. Something needs to be used to keep the fingerboard side of the neck straight. I used a piece of plastic so I could see the fingerboard side of the neck and make sure it stays lined up. The rubber band applies a little pressure to help hold the crack tight.
